Ground Anchors

Prestressed steel tendons that tie retaining systems in deep excavations and slopes back to competent ground.

Ground Anchors

What are ground anchors?

Prestressed ground anchors are tension elements that tie the retaining wall of a deep excavation, or a soil mass at risk of sliding on a slope, back to competent ground behind the potential failure surface.

Anchor holes are drilled using percussive, rotary or combined methods. Steel strands are then installed, the bond zone is formed by pressure grouting, and once the grout has gained sufficient strength the anchor is stressed and locked off.
